Bloodborne Pathogens / HIV Awareness

This training based upon the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard 29 CFR 1910.1030
and is designed to educate Bystanders and Rescuers in some of the pathogenic exposure risks inherent in first aid contact. The course includes discussion of symptoms of Bloodborne Diseases, an explanation of the modes of transmission, the recognition of tasks that may involve exposure, an explanation of Universal Precautions, Work Practice Controls, Administrative Controls, and the use of Personal Protective Equipment. The course will also discuss the employer’s responsibilities, including the availability of an Exposure Control Plan, and employee accessibility to the Hepatitis B vaccine.

The Heartsaver CPR Course is designed to prepare people to provide CPR in a safe, timely, and effective manner.
The course goals include cognitive and psychomotor objectives. This course is for people with limited or no medical training who need a credential in CPR. Anyone needing or desiring a Heartsaver CPR Course completion card can take this course. Course is taught by lecture, video and student participation.

- Group participation to develop skills with a manikin.
- Identification of the signs and symptoms of airway obstruction including dislodging techniques.
- Recognition of the early warning signals of respiratory and cardiac arrest.

- Course length is approximately 3-5 hours and student must successfully pass a skills evaluation on a manikin.
