First Responder Course 40 hour course
The 40 hour First Responder Course is designed to give public safety, business and community first responders the basic information needed to handle common medical emergencies. The course is based on the National Standard Curriculum, and includes CPR and AED components. Students will need to attend sessions for skills practice as part of the program, and final testing is based on the national standards. Course to include the following: Introduction to EMS Systems 1; legal & ethicalĀ issues; well being of the first responder; the human body; lifting, moving & positioning patients; airway management assessment of the patient; CPR & automated external defibrillaters; medical emergencies; bleeding, shock & soft tissue injuries; muscle & bone injuries; childbirth, infants & children; gaining access & hazards on scene; multiple casualty incidents; triage & the incident management systems.
